PAK 27 is an algaecide formulated with 85.0% Sodium Carbonate Peroxyhydrate. It is a copper-free formulation, making it safe for use in treatment area ponds containing koi. This product is designed to prevent and control various types of algae, including planktonic 'pea-soup' algae. It can be applied as a broadcast or spray-dissolved solution directly over infested areas. For small size water bodies, application rates vary based on pond size and the type of algae infestation (heavy growth vs. maintenance dose). For example, in a 1,000-gallon pond, the rate for heavy planktonic algae is 9 TBSP, while maintenance is 2 TBSP. Users should apply early in the morning or during water circulation. Note that excessive decaying algae can deplete dissolved oxygen, potentially leading to fish kill; if treating large ponds or heavy growth, apply 1/3 of the dose and wait 2-3 days before applying the remainder. The product is corrosive and can cause eye and skin burns. Avoid breathing dust. Always check pH levels before application, as the product can raise pH. Do not mix with aquatic herbicides or algaecides containing copper or bromides. Use caution when applying near birds, as undissolved particles may be corrosive to beaks.
