Profile 2SC is a xylemic mobile plant growth regulator designed to reduce terminal growth in trees by inhibiting gibberellin biosynthesis. The active ingredient is Paclobutrazol at a concentration of 21.8%. It is used to slow vegetative growth, which helps reduce the volume of woody growth that needs to be removed during trimming or can extend the trimming cycle. It can be applied to listed trees in various settings, including utility rights-of-way, urban environments (parks, landscapes), commercial/municipal sites, residential areas, and non-crop agricultural areas. Application methods include soil-directed spray, basal drench (applying to a 2-inch deep furrow at the base of the tree), or soil injection (approximately 6 inches deep). The product is absorbed by plant roots and translocated to growing tissues. Note that symptoms of growth regulation may not be visible for up to 18 months following application. Handling requires specific PPE, including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves (barrier laminate, butyl rubber, nitrile, or Viton), and shoe socks. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothing, and do not apply directly to water or intertidal areas.

Timing & weather

Can be made throughout the year, weather permitting, except when soil is frozen or saturated with water.
If applied after leaf fall drop, product uptake will not occur until development of new leaves in spring.

Use restrictions 6

Do not treat sugar maple or any other trees that could be tapped for sugar within one year of application.
Do not treat nut or fruit trees that will be harvested within one year of application.
Do not treat trees which are severely stressed or rapidly declining due to moisture, temperature, low soil fertility, or mechanical/chemical injury.
Do not repeat application until symptoms from previous applications begin to subside, or within 3 years of the last application.
DO NOT apply through any type of irrigation system.
Trees not specifically listed on the label may be treated if all other label directions are followed.
