Caramba is a Group 3 fungicide used for disease control in various crops, including barley, corn, oats, rye, sugar beets, sugarcane, triticale, and wheat. The active ingredient is metconazole (8.6%). It works by inhibiting sterol biosynthesis to control fungal diseases. This product can be applied via ground applications (broadcast or directed/banded sprays) and aerial applications using sprayer irrigation systems. When using sprayer irrigation, ensure the system is equipped with functional interlocking controls to automatically shut off the pump when water pressure decreases. For ground applications, users must follow specific rate calculations for banded sprays to avoid exceeding permitted rates. Note that Caramba contains a Group 3 fungicide; to manage resistance, it should be rotated with fungicides from different modes of action. Always follow the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and observe specific crop restrictions, such as minimum time from application to harvest and maximum number of applications per season.
