Cutless MEC is a Class B turf growth regulator (PGR) used for growth management and quality improvement of turfgrasses. Its active ingredient is Flurpirimod at a concentration of 16.0% (containing 1.3 pounds of active ingredient per gallon). This product works by suppressing gibberellic acid biosynthesis to reduce leaf blade length and stem internode elongation, resulting in more compact, dense, and vigorous turf. It is used on various cool-season and warm-season turfgrasses, including Bentgrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Perennial Ryegrass, Tall Fescue, Seashore Paspalum, Zoysiagrass, and Bermudagrass. It can also be used in programs to convert Poa annua (Annual Bluegrass) to perennial turfgrasses. Applications can be made via boom-type sprayer or mechanical agitation. Key handling notes include wearing protective eyewear, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and shoes with socks. Avoid application during temperature inversions or when wind speeds exceed 10 mph. Do not apply to areas with surface water or intertidal areas. When mixing with Class A PGRs, specific tank-mix rates and intervals must be followed to ensure efficacy and safety.
